Performance analysis of OpenOffice and MS Office: I knew it! We need a better open-source office suite!

In some ways I still prefer MS Office to Openoffice.org except this function, which I could generate a pdf easily using openoffice.org; ie, I don’t need to invest another few hundred dollars buying the Adobe Acrobat to implement into MS Office.

Not to mention Ms Office itself costs a couple hundread dollars. It all comes down to whether you care about paying for your software, I guess.

I recommend PDFCreator and Foxit PDF Reader, if you want to get rid of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader altogether. :cheese_ee:

Suiyee,
I don’t understand why, pdfCreator is not working on my PC. When I convert a document from, eg, .doc format to .pdf, only an error message shown in the .pdf file. :(

If you are using Chinese or Japanese in your Regional/Language Settings, change the output protocol to ASCII in the Printer Properties of PDFCreator.

Thanks, siuyee, I’ll give my last try again tonite. Well, I was typing an English document. But my OS and softwares are Chinese (Simplified)
