The first time I went to Nikko, 5 years ago, everything was under construction and there was absolutely nothing to see. I did not have a chance to visit during my internship, so I had to go this time.
Unlike most shrines and temples in Japan, the ones in Nikko will actually make you stop and stare for a few minutes before you pull out your camera. They are all decorated with grand carvings of golden this and that. There is a famous Japanese saying, “Don’t say magnificent until you see Nikko.”, which is not entirely inaccurate. :wink_kao:
The little girl photo featured on my blog was taken in Nikko.
I remember going great miles to find a waterfall during my internship, but it never worked out. Finally I got to see a full-scale one in Japan and it was awesome.
