Cheap Accommodations in Tokyo

I stayed at two very different business hotels while I was in Tokyo. The first being the very-popular-among-tourists Toyoko-Inn at Ikebukuro Kita-Guchi. This is the third time I stayed there and I highly recommend it. 7140 yen per night for a single room is a great deal for the service they offer (super clean+internet+breakfast).

It is not omg!-cheap (see the next one behind the cut) compare to other business hotels, but it still beats staying at a “regular” hotel that starts at 15,000 yen. Most people I saw were there for the Fukubukuro business anyway.

The second place I stayed at is called “Fukusen 福千“. It is not located conveniently in a prime district, but it is not that remote either. It is only 2 minutes from the Minamisenju JR station, which is 8 minutes from Ueno by JR. For a Japanese-style single room, I paid *drum roll, please* 2,850 yen per night. It is soooo cheap because the rooms are really small and most of the facilities (washroom, shower, hot bath, hot water) are shared. It felt like staying at a dormitory, except everything was spotlessly clean. The downside is the doors are locked at 11pm, just like a dorm. :sad_kao: They only have single rooms and most of the time they are fully booked. The manager can understand English quite well, and you can book online here. Now that I have tried and stamp-approved it, I will probably book this hotel again next time to save money.
