Update 1: Wait, a menchikatsu is a deep fried ball of minced meat, not a korroke technically. Okay, it makes sense now. “Menchi”, minced.
I feel kind of silly blogging about fried beef balls, but this is no regular korroke; this is the famous メンãƒã‚«ãƒ„(menchikatsu) made with æ¾é˜ª(Matsuzaka) beef that people wait in line an hour for.
I have seen it so many times on TV (YouTube link, note the lineup), travel books and websites. I have always wanted to try it, but I could never locate Satou Steak House whenever I went to å‰ç¥¥å¯º(Kichijouji). The directions given to me have always been along the line, “It is where you find the super long lineup.”
I went there at 10-ish on a weekday and I was 10th in line. Not bad. Look what happened an hour later.
Now the meat:
You can’t hate me for this. Can you?
I am not a big fan of korroke or fried food in general, but this was zomg juicy and delicious. Simply the best korroke I have ever had. You know something is delicious when you can remember the taste of it weeks later by looking at the pictures. I rank this higher than the “Horai 555″ buns, which are also very deliciously(and wrongfully) fatty.
I did not expect a korroke to be the size of a baseball. I felt pretty disgusted for the rest of the day after I finished the two I got.

omg lineup. no wonder you got two of them.
That 60mm lens looks delicious too. Can’t wait for more pics.
FCK! I want the damnMEAT ball
I want to find
Have to…I am too depressed from work
