I was told I won the first prize and my photo will be shown on Global that evening. No mention of when and how to claim the prize.
I honestly think the runner-ups were better. Lucky I didn’t go to UBC Nitobe Garden for my shot.
A lot of people asked who gets to go to Tokyo with me. Many of them even skipped the congratulations part. Guess who’s not going to Tokyo?
Alex asked if I have to use the tickets at the same time. If not, then I can go twice. I thought that was hilarious yet mind provoking.
Hey, that weatherman at least could have worn a tie for your big 15min of fame… Great job Siuyee (Nana…tee-hee).
I don’t know what the other 300+ photos are like — but if you give me these 3 photos to pick from and tell me to pick a winner for the cherry blossom contest, I’d pick yours.
At first I thought your photo was simple, perhaps almost too simple at first glance. But y’know, the other 2 photos simple don’t do “cherry blossom” justice. You need more pink/white in the photos to justify it being a cherry blossom contest. If I see those pics elsewhere, I wouldn’t know cherry blossom is the subject.
So, I think the judges were right (at least for the 3 photos). And props to you for capturing the essence of sakuras.

Ha ha!!! Congrats!! Great job Siuyee!! Very proud of you. I honestly think that your photo is better than the runners up. You have captured the beauty of the sakura.
