BMI = Weight (kg) / Height^2 (m sq)

I had a traumatic FTW moment last weekend. Jon stepped on the Wii Fit balance board and the screen says his BMI was “Normal”. Even Alex was “Normal”. These guys are sticks. One longer than the other, but both easily bendable. If BMI is universal, how can they be not “Underweight”? I swear I didn’t lie about my height, which hasn’t changed since the day I started caring about it.

Wii Fit calls 10 year old girl overweight.

You know what, this game is offensive. Not only did it tell me I have gained weight, it also asked me why. So rude.

  1. It’s pretty obvious to me what the explanation is: that, women (almost) never think they’re underweight, or even normal. They’re either fat, or slightly fat. That’s why we see much more anorexic women out there. They always think they’re fat.

    I think both Jon and I are *slightly* underweight, by my standards. But by BMI, yes, we’re both normal, and have been normal for a long, long time.

    BTW, how can you say one is *longer* than the other? We’re both 170cm. I’m heavier.
