My dad bought me tiny BBQ birdies, so I ate them.
Here’s another way to cook them.

Ronald McDonald greets you with the Sawadee hands. Spent 4 days in Bangkok with my mom. 38 degrees in January is way too brutal. Is it snowing in Vancouver now?
Another 5 days in Hong Kong, then I will head back to Vancouver (and work).
Let’s do something realistically achievable this year.
This photo was taken at The Peak while my mom and I enveloped it on New Year’s Day.
It’s been 2.5 years since I came back to Hong Kong and I haven’t visited my relatives here since 2004. So much has changed since then, and no one believes I am 25+2 now.
I had pizza for my New Year’s Eve dinner. I went to bed at 9-ish, woke up at 11:55pm and made a pathetic attempt to live stream fireworks from my window. Then went to bed again. I sort of just gave up on the whole New Year’s Resolution thing. You do it or you don’t.
Hold on, it is still 2009 in Vancouver, so technically I still have time.
Year 2009 was not the best year for most people. It felt like there were ongoing sad news happening every other month, not only to me, but to the people I care about. There were also a couple #fml moments, but those were mostly my fault. I overcame them and forgave myself by spontaneous shopping and traveling.
One of the 2009 resolutions was to stop visiting Japan 2 or 3 times a year. I ended up only going once on a very cheap ($390) ticket, so that did not count.
But I went to San Francisco three times, and spent a lot on money on a course to get myself certified, so I was much worse financially in 2009.
At least I took the course and did what I had to do. I am definitely seeing a career shift and I get to spend more time on things I am keen on, so that was an “UP” for 2009.
Happy New Year! Honnen mo douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
I typed this up in OmmWriter. Take a look at how Zen it is.

5. Rain Boots

After 12 years of living in Vancouver, I finally bought my first pair of rain boots. Every time I wear them in the rain/snow, I ask myself why didn’t I get them earlier. It took me a while to find the ones I like, too. Most of them either look too kiddo, or too fish market-ish.
4. Dell Mini 10v (Hackintosh’d)

Running OSX on a $300 netbook is about the most frugal thing I have done. I love travelling with my netbook. Most of the time I just check it in with my luggage so I don’t need to worry about the TSAs.
3. Kindle

I already feel more literate than I used to be. Thanks to your generous gift dollars, I have charged up my Kindle with a few books and I enjoy all of them. The Kindle will make my upcoming 13 hour flight way shorter. The only thing I hate about it is so many people, after knowing I own one, told me why they decided not to get one, but you can tell they never needed or wanted one. If you don’t buy books, the Kindle’ s not for you, period.
2. Panasonic Lumix LX3

I have a lot of bumpy relationships with my digital cameras. 2 Nikons, 3 Canons, 1 Ricoh and finally I am settled with a Panasonic. I love taking videos with it, the quality is amazing. I like the LX3 even more than the good old IXY 400 (Sorry, if you aren’t familiar with my camera love life). I would have used it a lot more if I didn’t have an iPhone.
1. iPhone 3GS

I am pretty up-to-date with gadgets and I have bought a lot of them, including the iPhone 2G, but the 3GS still managed to WOW me. Instead of using pay-as-you-go with no data on a 2G, I am now locked to a contract and paying a premium fee monthly for the iPhone plan. I can’t speak for other people, but for someone who is addicted to the internet, constantly reading 180+ feeds on RSS, there is nothing better than being locked to a contract and paying a premium fee monthy for the iPhone plan. There are too many things I love about it.
Honorary Mention: Pure Komachi 2

I don’t even cook at home, but sometimes I feel like buying something to chop so I can use this knife. It’s super sharp and I almost always cut myself every time I use it, but it’s pink and I am happy.
I don’t care. This is the last one. Bite me.
(The dock is awesome. Thanks, Jon!)
Last Saturday was my birthday and I took the Friday off to give myself a long weekend. I was planning on doing nothing, but one thing led to another and I ended up getting a last minute ticket to San Francisco for Friday morning. Long story short, I did not have any cake on my birthday but I had a lot of delicious food. It was nice to see all the Christmas festivities happening, too. Go to the Flickr set to see what I ate and where I went on my birthday weekend.
