For the three nights in Vegas, I spent the first two at The Aladdin and the last at The Venetian. The 5-star experience I got from the latter was unforgettable, and it was even cheaper than the boring Aladdin because I booked it via Priceline. We got the cheapest suite (last minute Priceline deal), but the room was 700 sq ft (as advertised) and equipped with two TVs and a sofa bed (panorama).

Vegas Lavish Highlights - Eiffel Tower and Buffets

I went to Vegas with Mom last month for 3 nights, and I was quite happy with how the trip went. I wanted to blog about this earlier, but I only get 20gb of bandwidth a month from my ISP and I could not upload my few hundred megabytes of photos until today. The trip was decided last-minute, budget was tight, but expectations were high. I managed to get my flight tickets and accommodations online for half the price quoted by the travel agents.

The Eiffel Tower Experience @ Paris

The Eiffel Tower @ Paris

We marched to Paris and went straight up the fake Eiffel Tower after we checked in. At first we weren’t so sure if we should spend 9 bucks a person to go up, but when compare to the Tokyo Tower or the Roppongi Hill Observatory, it seemed like a great deal. It was so worth it for the unbeatable view of the Strip and the Bellagio fountain show.

Las Vegas, My First Xpro Batch

There is a technique called “cross-processing” (a.k.a: xpro, E-to-C) that I have been longing to try, because it gives the most colour-rich, lomo-ish, contrasy results. To achieve such effect, one would shoot with slide film (positives) and process the roll as negatives (regular film). My Vegas trip (more about it later) was a good opportunity for some photo-shooting. I brought my Olympus XA camera with me, along with my mom and my Canon digital camera.

See the rest here.

Back Story:
The role of slide got stuck inside my camera as I rewinded it. I don’t have one of those fancy black bags, nor do I have any access to a darkroom. The darkess concealed place I could find at home was my closet. I turned off the lights, crawled into the very cramped closet and slided the door closed. I made sure there were no gaps between the doors and started “blind-winding”. It was way harder than I thought and it took me a good five minutes to do it.
Who would have thought the sliding doors don’t have handles from the inside? Took me another five sweaty minutes to get out. I am glad the photos came out alright.

My digital photos turned out bad because I was being careless and screwed up on the ISO setting. I will post them later.

bet
I am well-prepared: I watched Leaving Las Vegas and Ocean’s Eleven. (Best example for low budget->masterpiece vs. high budget->oversimplified).
I am not ready: Not much planned, and I feel insecure without my laptop for on-the-road planning.
